Hotell Göteborg: Best Luxury Hotels in Gothenburg 2023

Gothenburg is known as the most sustainable destination in the world, but aside from that, it’s also the home of Volvo, which is clearly highlighted at the arrival area of the Landvetter airport. The city has both the beauty of nature and the establishments of a modern city. It also hosts many concerts by various international artists. We’ve mentioned that the city has a thriving dining scene. There are a lot of great options for brunch, Swedish fika, and so much more.
Are you a luxury traveler? Do you love hotels with amazing interiors, a wellness center, and a great breakfast buffet with panoramic city views? If yes, save this list as your reference! These are our picks for the best luxury accommodations in Gothenburg:
UPPER HOUSE
Upper House is without a doubt the most luxurious accommodation in Gothenburg. The hotel suite is located on the top floor of the Gothia Towers hotel, so it has amazing panoramic views of the city. The 5-star hotel includes three floors of Spa & Relax and beauty treatments, a Turkish bath, and an outdoor pool, which is probably its most popular feature.
There are different room types: city view, bridal suite, suite, landmark view, and non-smoking rooms. Guests staying at Upper House have access to all the facilities of the Gothia Towers hotel, including a fitness center, a swimming pool, and a variety of dining options. There are about 70 restaurants within 0.3 miles, which is a great choice for walkers. It’s also very close to some major attractions in the city, like Liseberg, one of Scandinavia’s biggest amusement parks.

As for costs, the price of staying at the Upper House depends on two major factors: the season and the length of your stay. Please take note that most accommodations in Sweden dramatically increase in price in the summer. As of this writing, which is early March 2023, a night in the Upper House costs 2,759 SEK($600), but as mentioned, this could be doubled or even more during peak season.
DORSIA HOTEL & RESTAURANT
Dorsia Hotel & Restaurant is a beautiful boutique hotel nestled in the heart of Gothenburg. The hotel has a distinctively luxurious and stylish feel, with an emphasis on art, design, and contemporary Swedish cuisine. Drama is the word for this hotel! There are about 37 rooms and suites, each with unique decor and furnishings, including bespoke art pieces, velvet drapes, and marble bathrooms. For relaxation, they have a high-end spa that offers a range of treatments.

The hotel’s signature restaurant serves modern Swedish cuisine with an emphasis on local and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star. I had an 8-course meal here with my husband, and it was one of the best luxury dinners we’ve had, even bettering other more expensive 5-star hotel dinners we’ve been to in other major cities. You should set a budget of at least 1000–1500 sek per person ($120–180 USD).

Parisian vibes at the Dorsia restaurant
The hotel is on Trädgårdsgatan, a street in the city center, so there are many nearby hotels and restaurants.
A night’s stay starts at around 2,500 SEK ($300 USD), and as of this writing, which is early March 2023, a night here costs 2,411 SEK ($225 USD), but like most other hotels, this changes a lot depending on the season.
Do you like fancy artsy decor, Michelin-starred restaurants, and high-end spas? If yes, then Dorsia Hotel & Restaurant is the hotel for you.
HOTEL PIGALLE
Hotel Pigalle is a boutique hotel in an 18th-century building in Brunnsparken, Gothenburg. It is a central area, so it’s the perfect option if you like going for tourist walks.

The hotel also has a very romantic vibe with French-inspired cuisine and a classic cocktail bar. A night’s stay in this quirky hotel starts at around 1,500 SEK ($140 USD), and as of this writing, which is early March 2023, a night here costs 1,272 SEK ($119 USD).

This hotel is just a few miles to Gothenburg’s most popular landmarks, such as Avenyn (0.3 mi) and Lilla Bommen (0.6 mi). Therefore, you have access to 249 restaurants and 37 attractions within 0.3 miles.
The rooftop pool is probably its most well-known feature but I love this hotel for its amazing art! The bar on the ground floor is also a popular spot for locals so it can be really crowded on weekend nights. A rooftop pool and a complimentary breakfast are also offered to guests. There is parking available for visitors arriving by car but it’s a bit harder to get around with a car though. It’s very close to tram stops though so I do recommend taking the tram instead.

Whenever I am in Heaven 23, I always recommend to my friends that they try the King-size Shrimp Sandwich. It’s probably the most celebrated Swedish dish in Gothenburg.
